NEW HANGAR TO BE BUILT AT SPRINGFIELD-BRANSON NATIONAL AIRPORT (SGF)
American Airlines and Springfield-Branson National Airport have created a partnership to develop a new maintenance hangar at the airport. The facility will be occupied by American’s largest regional carrier Envoy Air for maintaining their fleet of Embraer regional jets including the E140, E145, and the newest addition the 75-passenger E175.
The new hangar will accommodate the larger jets and attract new jobs, some from training programs within the state. The $11 million project will be a 55,000 square foot facility containing shops, parts storage, crew training areas, and offices. In addition to the generally higher-paying maintenance technician jobs, Envoy will also be hiring inventory control clerks and management and support staff.
Airport Director Brian Weiler said of the project, “It is big news for our region and we’re excited to announce it. Big opportunity for people wanting to get into aviation.”
