GYY WELCOMES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Gary Chicago International Airport (GYY) has appointed Dan Vicari as the airport’s new executive director. Vicari previously served as the airport’s executive director from 2015 through 2018. His return to the airport marked the replacement of Col. Duane Hayden who held the executive director title at GYY for the past four years.

Prior to rejoining GYY, Vicari served as the executive director of the Gary Sanitary District. During his previous appointment at GYY, Vicari oversaw the expansion of the airport’s main runway to nearly 9,000 feet. GYY is 25 miles from downtown Chicago and serves as a cargo hub for UPS which recently completed its first year of operations at the airport. Former Congressman Pete Visclosky has also been announced as chairman of the Gary/Chicago International Airport Authority (GCIAA) and Tom Collins, Jr. has been named as the Porter County representative for the GCIAA’s board of directors.
