BOI CONTINUES AIRPORT UPGRADES

The Boise Airport (BOI) has started construction on two new parking garages as part of the airport’s Upgrade Airport Expansion Project. The airport will construct a new public parking garage as well as an employee parking garage. The airport anticipates construction to take an estimated 18 to 24 months and construction of the garages will occur simultaneously.

The expansion project at BOI was paused for a short period in 2020 due to the pandemic, but increased demand in 2021 prompted the project to resume. Construction of both garages will be funded by $52.6 million in bond proceeds from the issuance of general airport revenue bonds. The BOI upgrade is designed to improve parking, terminal, and gate capacity with project phases that will include a new concourse, an increased aircraft parking apron, and a new rental car lobby and garage. The total costs of the BOI Upgrade Airport Expansion Project are estimated at $200 to $250 million that will be funded by general airport revenue bonds, passenger and customer facility charges, and general airport revenue.
