MCO RANKED BUSIEST AIRPORT IN FLORIDA

The Orlando International Airport (MCO) finished last year as the busiest airport in Florida with over 40 million passengers. The passenger count was up 86 percent from totals in 2020. MCO moved from ninth place to the seventh busiest airport nationwide.

MCO resumed international service last year to Brazil and England which increased international traffic by 20.51 percent over 2020. The airport also began its first-ever service to London, Heathrow and new service to Hawaii. Domestic travel at MCO increased by 92 percent and combined domestic and international travel accounted for an 86.66 percent increase over 2020. Prior to the pandemic, MCO experienced 50.6 million passengers in 2019 compared to 40,351,068 passengers in 2021. According to MCO, comparative airport rankings for 2020 and 2021 retained Atlanta (ATL), Dallas (DFW), Denver (DEN), Chicago (ORD), and Los Angeles (LAX) as the top five busiest airports in the nation.
