Spirit Airlines Lifts Up Local Charities
FL – Spirit Airlines recently raised $1.5 million for nonprofit organizations across South Florida at The Spirit Charitable Foundation’s fifth annual golf event. The event was sponsored by NexGen Aero, Airbus, and Pratt & Whitney. Last year, the Spirit Foundation donated over $500,000 to 29 charitable organizations.
The Spirit Open returned in 2022 after a two-year hiatus and previously raised $1 million at the event in 2020. The golf event was preceded by a reception held at Sheltair’s location at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). This year, the Spirit Charitable Foundation will invest in nonprofits in the U.S., Latin America, and the Caribbean. Spirit Airlines has recently added new crew bases in Miami and Atlanta that are expected to open this summer and has also begun development at its Dania Beach campus. The company anticipates locating over 300 crew members to each base with additional roles expected to follow later in 2022. Spirit Airlines currently employs 29,000 team members.
