TUS To Offer Nonstop Flights Between Canada and AZ
AZ- Tucson International Airport (TUS) announced an agreement with Flair Airlines to provide nonstop service between Canada and Arizona beginning next winter. The agreement came together under the guidance of The Tucson Airport Authority, Visit Tucson, Flair Airlines, and five Canadian airports. The Canadian destination airports include Fort McMurray (YMM), Lethbridge (YQL), Prince George (YXS), Windsor (YQG), and Edmonton International (YEG).
The agreement marks the only nonstop flights to the United States for YMM, YQL, YXS, and YQG. YEG is the fifth largest airport in Canada serving 1.8 million people. A U.S. winter crew base will now be established in Tucson as a result of the agreement and TUS will become a base for Flair’s Canadian-based crews allowing for flights to be scheduled roundtrip from TUS. Flights to Arizona from Canada, excluding those departing from YEG, will depart from airports that do not have U.S. Customs pre-clearance. Arriving passengers from the remaining four Canadian airports under the agreement will clear U.S. Customs upon arrival at TUS. The new flights can be booked now and are expected to begin at the end of November.
