International Flights Return to Stewart Airport

NY – PLAY, the Icelandic low-cost airline based at Keflavik International Airport in Reykjavik, has reintroduced flights from Stewart International Airport to Iceland for $99 and to Copenhagen, Dublin, Paris, and Berlin for $129 through November. The new flights signify growth for both the airline and SWF, expanding the number of PLAY’s U.S. sites to three and its European destinations to 22. Earlier this year PLAY rolled out European flights from Baltimore/Washington D.C.’s Thurgood Marshall International (BWI) and Boston’s Logan International (BOS). Stewart recently completed construction of its new $37 million international terminal and U.S. Customs facility, enhancing the experiences of both American and European travelers.

The airline has been growing steadily in the U.S. and passenger movements increased by 55% in April 2022 alone, and its service to Europe from the U.S. via Iceland has demonstrated a 90% on-time track record. The no-frills concept allows travelers to build their own service level and maximize their budget for destination experiences. Getting to Stewart, in Newburgh, is convenient for travelers who can utilize train, bus, or taxi service from New York City. The level of travel demand is growing as the global covid-induced suppression wanes, and a strong outlook for tourism is forecast for 2022, according to NYC and Company in New York.
