Glacier Park Experiences Significant Growth and Development
MT – Glacier Park International Airport has seen a significant increase in traffic in recent years. A new terminal project is underway with a $115 million price tag. The airport is experiencing various complications such as congestion and limited seating in the terminal. Limited aircraft parking and gate sharing are causing delays and logistical issues between carriers, and there is no headroom for airline and non-airline companies to boost revenue. The new terminal expansion would triple the airport’s footprint. Glacier Park Airport is experiencing a record-breaking number of travelers.
The airport has been experiencing huge gains in the off-season, revealing a shift in the local economy. With the expansion of the airport terminal, airlines will have the capacity to add new routes. General aviation traffic has also been increasing significantly, leading to several development interests. The airport has approved several general aviation hangar projects and is working towards an RFP to encourage more growth and development at the airport for general aviation. The Glacier Park area has seen an influx of new residents that are now using the airport year-round. Glacier Park International currently ranks second in the state for passenger traffic behind Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport.
