Kids Introduced to Mother-Daughter Duo Making Aviation History with Southwest Airlines
CO – Captain Holly Petitt and her daughter First Officer Keely Petitt, broke history with Southwest Airlines as they became the first mother-daughter duo to work for the company. While this situation is new for Southwest Airlines, the love for aviation has always been prominent in the lives of Holly and Keely Petitt. Keely Petitt had her first opportunity to fly when her mom bought her and her siblings their first introduction flights for Christmas, and Keely became immediately hooked. Keely continued her training to pursue her dream career as an airline pilot, and her mother loved watching her daughter work towards making it into the cockpit at Southwest Airlines.
The mother-daughter duo recently put their knowledge to good use by sharing the exciting aspects of aviation with children from the Colorado area for Denver Aviation Day. For the event, the kids played in a flight simulator, saw a plane and its engine components up close, and learned more about flight training. While the day centered around discussing aviation, Captain Holly Pettit emphasized that she hopes the younger generation can follow their hearts and find something that they love to do.
