Wings Over the Rockies, Experience of Flight at Centennial Airport is Getting the Next Generation of Pilots and Aviation Professionals Into the Air

CO – Wings Over the Rockies, at Centennial Airport, is completing its third year of Awarding Flight Training Scholarships to young people 15-18 years old.

This is through the generosity of The James C Ray Foundation.

There are two types of scholarships being offered. One scholarship is offered for $6,000.00 to get a Private Pilot Glider license and another for $10,000.00 to earn the Private Pilot’s license in Single Engine Land.

Even though the program is just finishing its third year, they’ve already seen some amazing success stories!

“Dom” Joaquin Delgado took his scholarship opportunity and never looked back. After earning his Private Pilot license at 17, he went on to earn his Instrument, Commercial and Multi-Engine licenses within two years. At 19 years old, Dom earned his type rating in the Embraer ERJ-145 jet after getting hired by JSX as a new first officer.

During his junior high school year, Luke Zinn earned a Private Pilot license when he turned 17 and earned his Instrument license before the summer break. Luke is now a high school senior, working towards his Commercial license before he graduates high school.

Adrian Pacheco earned his Private Pilot’s License in December 2021 after turning 17. His newfound love for aviation found him taking High School vocational classes to earn his Aircraft Airframe license when he graduates high school next Spring. As a much sought-after professional aircraft mechanic, he’s also looking at a very rewarding future in aviation!

Wings Over the Rockies is looking forward to more success stories, helping young people’s Dreams Takeoff!
