Of course, you know that you should clean out all of the trash and personal items from your seaplane, have the floats cleaned, change the oil, fill the gas tanks, and cover the aircraft to keep out pests, but where should you store it? Should you store it on the water or in a hangar near where you love flying?

GLOBAL: Imagine for just a moment an airport where flight crews are required to use supplemental oxygen upon arrival. A place where you may see the pilots of your flight on the flight deck wearing oxygen masks while parked at the gate with engines off. La Paz Airport in Bolivia is one such place. It’s considered a very high-altitude airport where you could easily pass out if you are not well acclimated to the thin air. Remember that most commercial airliners today are designed to maintain a comfortable internal cabin altitude of around 7000 feet. This is even though the aircraft is flying at 35,000 feet, for example.

GLOBAL: A Makeshift Runway - The Russians are constantly driven to break new records, it seems, whether it be in space or here on Earth. They have occasionally been known to land a commercial airliner close to the North Pole. Antonov An-74 aircraft are operated by the Russian airline Utair. They effectively use a makeshift runway that forms naturally at certain times of the year by drifting ice. It is utilized for sporadic supply runs to a unique and desolate place called Ice Camp Barneo.

GLOBAL: UK – Barra Airport (BRR) is located on the northern tip of Barra island in the bay of Traigh Mhòr just south of Eoligarry. It is world renowned because it is the only airport where airplanes land on the beach.
