Alaska Air Group Updates Growth Strategy
WA – Alaska Air Group which serves as the parent company of Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air recently hosted an Investor Day where the company detailed updates on its long-term growth strategy. The company focused on pandemic recovery efforts, guest experience and financial strength, and future plans for long-term value creation.
Alaska Air Group was recently honored with the 2022 Aviation Week Network’s Air Transport World Airline of the Year award. The company plans to increase the depth of its network in order to grow an average of four to eight percent per year through 2025. Alaska Air Group also intends to transition to a single fleet of all Boeing 737s for mainline operations and all Embraer E175s for regional operations by the end of next year. Personnel development efforts will be supported by the group’s Ascend Pilot Academy and a renewed co-branded partnership with Bank of America will help to support customer loyalty programs. According to Alaska Air Group, the company will pursue continued financial sustainability through the generation of returns on capital that exceed the company’s cost of capital, managing capital with a long-term perspective, and prioritizing the production of free cash flow. The company is also committed to environmental sustainability with a goal of reaching net-zero carbon emissions as the most fuel-efficient airline in the U.S. by 2040.
