ARKANSAS AIRPORTS AWARDED $1.4 MILLION IN FEDERAL GRANTS
Twenty-four Arkansas airports are recipients of a total of $1.4 million in grants from The U.S. Department of Transportation. The grants were part of the Coronavirus Relief and Response Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) funding as a result of the Covid pandemic and are intended to offset costs, maintain jobs, and increase the level of sanitization to help curtail the spread of pathogens.
The largest amount ($1,020,766) went to Texarkana Regional (TXK) and included funding to provide for tenant rent relief, on-airport car rentals, on-airport parking, and in-terminal concessions operations. The remaining grants were in amounts ranging from $9,000 to $57,162 based on the number of operations per day and the number of pilots and passengers using the facilities.
