Bayer Sells Hangar at Spirit of St. Louis Airport
Germany-based Bayer AG has sold its hangar-office facility at Spirit of St. Louis Airport (SUS) in Chesterfield, MO, just outside St. Louis. Strategic Holdings, LLC, of Perryville, MO, purchased the property for $8.6 million. The sale included two hangar bays, a reception area, executive offices, pilot quarters, conference rooms, a kitchen, and a gym with the entire facility totaling 80,000 SF on 11 acres.
The facility had been bought in 2010 for $4.8 million by Monsanto, which in turn was acquired by Bayer in 2018 in a $63 billion deal. Bayer does not own or operate aircraft and, facing billions of dollars in financial and legal liabilities associated with the herbicides Roundup and dicamba, is divesting much of its campus in the area. Strategic Holdings is the sole owner of the property and along with its subsidiary Strategic Air Services will provide aircraft management services while offering hangar, office, and shop spaces for lease.
