Bombardier Cuts Ribbon on New Service Centre in Miami
Canadian French business jet manufacturer Bombardier announced the official opening of its new state-of-the-art Service Centre at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport (OPF). The new facility is the latest indication that reinforces Bombardier’s commitment to the U.S. and Latin American markets while creating another key element in its growing network of worldwide customer support facilities. Earlier this year Bombardier selected its existing Wichita, Kansas, Service Centre as the site of its U.S. Headquarters and launched the renamed Bombardier Defense unit within the Specialized Aircraft division.
With this new 300,000 SF facility, Bombardier more than quadruples its current maintenance footprint in Florida and when it reaches full capacity will enable it to transfer Service Centre operations from Fort Lauderdale. The expanded Service Centre hangar is capable of housing 18 Global 7500 aircraft under one roof and is fully equipped to provide complete scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, aircraft modifications, avionics installations, and paint services for Bombardier’s fleet of Learjet, Challenger, and Global aircraft. The company says it plans to add nearly 300 aerospace jobs at the center, including more than 225 highly skilled technician positions. Bombardier is hiring maintenance technicians across its entire network to support the company’s expansions. The newly hired technicians will undergo Bombardier’s Type Training Course to obtain their Mechanical and Avionics certifications, enabling them to work at any facility within the company’s worldwide Service Centre network.
