Claremore Regional Opens More T-Hangars
OK – Claremont Regional Airport (GCM) near Tulsa, Oklahoma, recently completed construction of a 12,783 SF building containing 10 nested T-hangars. According to Meggie Froman-Knight, Executive Director of the Claremore Industrial and Economic Development Authority (CIEDA), all ten were leased with paid deposits within an hour of the announcement of construction. CIEDA was instrumental in securing the $800,000 in financing for the project, which was completed by Vexus Contracting LLC of Jenks, OK. The opening of the facility was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting by officials from the airport, CIEDA, and the Claremore Area Chamber of Commerce.
The last time a hangar was built at Claremore was in 2005. Since then, demand for hangar space has skyrocketed in the northeastern Oklahoma region and even though this building brings the total number of hangar spaces available at Claremore to 94 there is still an extensive waiting list. The airport is getting ready to prepare a revised Master Plan that will include how many and what types of hangars it will build on a 40-acre parcel purchased by the city in 2019. The parcel is adjacent to the newly-opened hangar, and a site survey is being done with funds from a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grant. Further improvements are on the way, with the next project being the rehabilitation of 23,900 square yards of asphalt apron. The estimated $1,080,000 cost of the project will be 90% funded by the FAA with a 10% match by the City and CIEDA.
