How Mulberry Gap Got Its Start
Mulberry Gap got its start in 2006 when the founders of Mulberry Gap happened upon a set of closed gates along Mulberry Road. At the time, they were looking for a place where they could enjoy the outdoors and camp, and they thought one or two acres of rural, wooded property in Georgia would serve that purpose. They looked at several properties before they stumbled upon more than 15 acres that were mysteriously residing behind a set of locked gates. They just had to find out what was on the property. After some exploration, they discovered that the rural property contained some old cabins and campsites that were once part of a private family retreat. Despite the property being more land than they thought they needed, they moved forward with the purchase.
Once they had the deed, the couple began upgrading and renovating it. They envisioned a place where people could enjoy the outdoors, hike, mountain bike, watch the wildlife, fish, and camp without the endless need to constantly pack and unpack gear. They also wanted to create a versatile camping experience where individuals could enjoy primitive camping, glamping, or something in between.
Today, Mulberry Gap is known for its camping versatility, excellent mountain biking, hot showers, home-cooked meals, good friends, and good times. The property consists of several tent sites and cabins, two bathhouses, two ponds, two hot tubs, and several hiking and biking trails.
