Paoli Peaks is located three miles west of Paoli, Indiana, seven miles east of French Lick, Indiana, 100 miles south of Indianapolis, and 49 miles northwest of Louisville, Kentucky.

Does Paoli Peaks have an airport?

Paoli, Indiana, does have an airport. It’s the Paoli Municipal Airport (I42), 4.5 miles away from Paoli Peaks. The airport has been open to the public since its activation date in 1947. It does not have a control tower. The CTAF is 122.8. Paoli airport does have 100LL available, and they have hangars and tie-downs. Runway 02/20 is 3,302 feet long and 60 feet wide.

Paoli Peaks offers skiing during the day and night, snowboarding and snowtubing. The resort is built on a natural hill that sits at an elevation of 900 feet. The base elevation is 600 feet. This gives skiers a maximum 300-foot drop down the ‘mountain’. Paoli Peaks has the ability to create 100 percent of its needed snow if the snowfall in the area isn’t high enough. The resort also boasts eight ski lifts and 15 trails.

Day Skiing

Day skiing is one of Paoli Peak’s most popular activities for beginners and advanced skiers. In fact, 25 percent of the mountain has been designed with new skiers in mind. Fifty-five percent of the terrain has been designed for skiers at the intermediate level, and 20 percent of the terrain is for skiers with advanced skills.

Night Skiing

Night skiing starts at 3 PM, and some patrons prefer it because it can be less crowded and less expensive than skiing or snowboarding during the day. It’s also typically less expensive because patrons can get discounts on the prices.

Snowboarding

Snowboarding is another way to have an adventure on the snow. Snowboarders can ride down the same trails as the skiers or enjoy the freestyle terrain.

Snowtubing

Snowtubing is all the rage at the Arctic Blast Tubing Park at the base of the mountain. It’s great for the entire family. In order to ride the tubes, individuals must be at least 42” or 3.5 feet tall in order to ensure safety. At the bottom of the snowtube run, there is a carpet lift that takes the snowtubers back to the top of the hill. The Arctic Blast Tubing Park has its own lodge with bathrooms and snacks.

Can you learn to ski or snowboard at Paoli Peaks?

Paoli Peaks does offer skiing and snowboarding lessons for all skill levels and all ages. The resort recommends that people who have never skied take a course for first-timers. This helps the individual get used to the equipment and skiing and stopping on the beginner terrain. After the first day, the individual can take a few beginner ski or snowboarding lessons to get the hang of skiing or snowboarding. They also offer beginner and advanced skiing lessons for those with more experience.

Does Paoli Peaks offer equipment rental?

Paoli Peaks does offer equipment rental. They rent ski boots, skis, snowboards, poles and helmets, and they recommend that people who do not own their own equipment rent from Paoli Peaks, rather than borrowing equipment that may not be in the best condition. This is because skiing and snowboarding on new equipment that’s been properly maintained is safer than using someone else’s old equipment that’s been in storage, according to the experts at Paoli Peaks. In addition to equipment rental, they also offer professional inspections of owned equipment to ensure that it meets current equipment guidelines.

Does Paoli Peaks offer food?

Paoli Peaks does have food. The tubing lodge does have a snack bar, while the main lodge contains the Peaks Pizzeria and Grill. The food is served cafeteria style. The menu includes pizza, burgers, fries, soup, hot dogs and various snacks.

Where can people stay?

If you just plan on being at Paoli Peaks for the day, the resort does offer day accommodations. However, they do not offer overnight accommodations. If you’re planning to be in the area for two or more days and need a place to sleep, there are plenty of places to stay. Paoli Peaks has partnered with many different types of overnight accommodations.
