The skills and precision of expert aerobatic pilots are a sight to behold. Disciplined and highly trained aviators push the boundaries of flight right to the edge with barrel rolls, loops, spins, and other jaw-dropping maneuvers. All this and more showcase the impressive capabilities of various aircraft and the exceptional talent of dedicated pilots. Air shows typically include a variety of vintage aircraft, providing the opportunity to get an up-close and personal feel for the past while witnessing the evolution of aviation. These brief glimpses into aeronautical history are both educational and nostalgic.
Air Shows Are Great for Families and Those Aspiring to Become a Pilot
Air shows offer a rare and unique opportunity to learn about aviation and aerospace technology. Many annual events around the country include static displays where those in attendance can get up close to all kinds of antique and ultra-modern aircraft, interacting with pilots, mechanics, and aviation enthusiasts who are eager to share their experiences and knowledge. Aviation air events are great for families and those aspiring to become a pilot. These energizing shows offer thrilling entertainment for young and old alike, making them an excellent way to inspire and educate the next generation of aviation professionals.
Air shows bring forth a sense of genuine patriotism as they showcase the skills and remarkable precision maneuvering of military aviators, placing on open display the strength and outstanding capabilities of the armed forces. These aerial shows provide the ideal opportunity to meet and connect with fellow aviation experts and enthusiasts, share experiences, and build lasting memories. The resulting sense of community among attendees is virtually always a heartwarming experience. Meeting retired airline pilots and aircraft restoration buffs is highly likely.

U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps
The Stuart Air Show is a 501 (C) (3) non-profit related event. For over three decades, it has been devoted to honoring the history of aviation and veterans of the United States military. Every year, this unique aviation event attracts tens of thousands of attendees and partners with local schools and other children’s educational agencies to offer STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) as well as a multitude of educational opportunities to large numbers of school-age children.
The Stuart Air Show proudly partners with non-profits such as EAA Chapter 692, Southeast Florida Honor Flight, the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps, and the United Way of Martin County, as well as providing fundraising opportunities for dozens of other Martin and St. Lucie County-based local charities.
Witham Field Has a Rich History
Witham Field features multiple runways and serves the bulk of the general aviation needs of Martin County and the surrounding communities. Witham Field is only a few miles southeast of the City of Stuart. The field easily accommodates almost all general aviation aircraft, including smaller business jets, as well as being home to a few hundred private and business aircraft.
Witham Field has a rich aviation history and is representative of the people and local area in which it resides. The airport is strongly anchored in duty, American patriotism, and generosity from those living in and around Martin County. As with many rural airports during the 1930s, Martin County Airport was nothing more than a small grass strip. However, as word spread of war overseas in the 1940s, a gathering of forward-looking and patriotic private landowners joined forces, offering their property to the county with the intent of giving back to the country.
The Stuart Air Show, as reported by USA Today, is one of the 10 Best Air Shows in the United States. Finally, if you plan on flying in for the show, contact KSUA tower frequency upon approach and request “Air Show Transient Parking.” The marshaling crew will direct you to a preassigned parking spot. Those parking aircraft at the FBO should be prepared to get back and forth to the airshow on their own, as the FBO currently has no shuttle services.
