FEDERAL FUNDING ANNOUNCED TO SUPPORT INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS AT ESN

The Easton/Newman Field Airport (ESN) in Maryland is set to receive more than $500,000 of federal funding according to a recent announcement from U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Ben Cardin. Over $50,000 of the funding is supported by the American Rescue Plan Act and will aid in the support of critical infrastructure improvements at ESN. The funds were provided through the F.A.A. to the Talbot County Council and will be allocated amongst a runway improvement project and the removal of obstructions at the airport.

The runway improvement project will dedicate $338,960 toward the construction and extension of the Runway 4-22 safety area in order to meet standards and increase operational safety at ESN. The remaining $161,307 will be utilized for the removal of non-hazard tree obstructions in order to comply with F.A.A. design requirements. According to Senator Van Hollen, ESN is a key economic driver for the local economy and the new round of federal funding will help the airport to better serve the state and region in the future.
