Lodge Fishing

The Lodge fishing option offers more amenities. Guests can enjoy having all their food cooked for them. The Lodge serves breakfast and dinner. Lunch is served on the shore and consists of Walleye. All lodge guests can stay in a private cabin with modern bathrooms, wood stoves, and a screened-in porch to enjoy nature without all the bugs. Each cabin comes with WiFi, twin beds, dressers, lamps, and a beverage refrigerator. Guests can choose between 3-day, 4-day, and 5-day stays.

Each stay includes the seaplane trip from Vermilion Bay to Oak Lake Lodge, morning coffee delivery, breakfast and dinner, shore lunch, maid service, and fishing boats. The packages do not include the fees for the guides, live bait, fishing licenses, taxes, or any gratuities paid to the staff or guides.

Outpost Fishing

For groups who’d prefer to plan their own days, the Outpost may be a better option. The Outpost isn’t located directly next to the Lodge. Instead, it’s a 45-minute ride by boat. The private cabin includes solar panels and a generator for electricity, running water, a modern toilet, a wood heater, a propane stove, a propane grill and oven, a refrigerator and deep freezer, and a satellite phone that allows guests to call the lodge. WiFi is also available as an extra. Guests at the outpost are responsible for all their food, cooking, cleaning, and fishing trip preparation.

Lodge Items to Bring

Lodge guests can bring up to 60 pounds of luggage. This luggage should include all personal items and clothing. The Tuck Shop at the Lodge sells snacks, sodas, T-shirts, sweatshirts, live bait, fishing gear, and fishing licenses. In addition to personal items, guests should bring all fishing gear, rainwear, sun protection, insect repellent, medicines, and first aid supplies. It’s recommended that guests also bring waterproof shoes and warm clothing, like jackets and sweatshirts.

Outpost Items to Bring

Outpost guests can bring up to 100 pounds of luggage. Guests staying at the Outpost should bring everything listed for the lodge guests, as well as their bedding. This includes sheets, blankets, and pillows. They should also bring their own towels and personal hygiene items, including soap, shampoo, and deodorant. It’s important to note that food is not provided by the Lodge to Outpost guests. Therefore, you must also bring your own food and drinks for your stay.

We also offer a range of other side dishes, including baked beans, french fries, and rice. Dinners consist of all the meats you’re used to, including steak, chicken, turkey, and pork. Of course, you can also have more fresh fish. The lodge also has fresh rolls, carrots, mashed potatoes, pies and cookies.

What to Expect at the Oak Lake Lodge

If you’re not flying your airplane, staying overnight in Vermilion Bay is recommended. This helps ensure you arrive on time for your early-morning seaplane trip across the water.

Your pilot will land at the taxi and taxi to the dock, where you will begin your relaxing fishing vacation. Once you land, you’ll check in and drop your luggage off at the cabin.
