KANC EXPERIENCED PASSENGER INCREASES AND RECORD CARGO VOLUME IN 2021

The Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) reported a 93 percent increase in passenger traffic over 2020 with 4.5 million passengers traveling through the airport in 2021. ANC also broke the airport’s previous cargo record set in 2020 by 14 percent with handling of 3.6 million metric tons of air cargo in 2021. Anchorage is a 9.5-hour flight from 90% of the industrialized world and serves as a hub for UPS and FedEx with five major cargo expansion projects in development.

The airport experienced nearly two million more travelers in 2021 compared to 2020 and expects summer seat capacity to be six percent higher than pre-pandemic summer levels in 2019. ANC has brought back international non-stop flight options for this summer with routes to Canada, Iceland, Russia, and Germany. The airport is welcoming Eurowings Discovery as a new airline to serve ANC this summer with non-stop service to Frankfurt, Germany.
