KLGA TERMINAL B CROWNED WORLD’S BEST WITH UNESCO PRIX VERSAILLES AWARD

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has announced receipt of UNESCO’s 2021 Prix Versailles best new airport in the world award for Laguardia Airport’s (LGA) redeveloped Terminal B. According to UNESCO, LGA’s Terminal B was selected because it demonstrated innovation, creativity, a reflection of local, natural, and cultural heritage, ecological efficiency, and the value of social interaction and participation. The enhancement of Terminal B is part of the airport’s $8 billion redevelopment project which began in 2016 and is expected to be nearing completion later this year.

Terminal B at LGA was designated in 2021 as the first airline terminal in the world to achieve LEED v4 Gold Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. A new arrivals and departures hall for Terminal B was opened in 2020 and is connected to two concourses via the world’s first dual-pedestrian skybridges. The airport will continue redevelopment efforts with Delta’s new arrivals and departures hall at Terminal C expected to open mid-2022.
