KSWF WELCOMES PLAY AS FIRST CARRIER TO UTILIZE NEW INTERNATIONAL ARRIVALS FACILITY
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced the addition of low-cost carrier PLAY to the roster of commercial flight offerings at New York Stewart International Airport (KSWF). The airport welcomes the airline as a pivotal step toward SWF’s goal of expanding post-pandemic air service and travel options. PLAY will begin offering flights from SWF to Reykjavik, Iceland this June.
PLAY’s involvement at SWF supports the Port Authority’s five-point strategic plan for the airport that includes modernizing the air carrier incentive program, partnership with local agencies to drive economic activity, and entrance into an agreement with Future Stewart Partners to oversee operations. The airline will be the first to utilize SWF’s $37 million 20,000-square-foot arrivals facility. As new flight schedules are launched at SWF, express bus service between the airport and the Midtown Bus Terminal in Manhattan will resume. SWF contributes $145 million in economic activity to the region while supporting over 800 jobs and $53 million in annual wages.
