LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY OF ALEXANDRIA TO OFFER PROFESSIONAL AVIATION PROGRAM

Beginning in Spring 2022, the LSU of Alexandria Campus (LSUA) will offer its first baccalaureate-level professional aviation program, only the second college-level aviation program in the state. The four-year program will lead to a degree in general studies with a concentration in professional aviation. The ground school portion will be taught on campus, and flight training will take place at Acadian Aviation, an FAA Part 141 training program at England Airpark. Students completing the program will be eligible for four FAA ratings: Private, Instrument, Commercial, and Certified Flight Instructor. Additional optional ratings will include multi-engine, multi-engine instrument, and flight instructor instrument.

The program grew out of a partnership that includes LSUA, Central Louisiana Technical Community College, and England Airpark, formerly England Air Force Base. The partnership is known as ACE, or Aviation Careers in Education, and is an economic development initiative largely driven by England Airpark, a business park located at the Alexandria International Airport (KAEX).
