Maryland Flight Academy Expanding Into Delaware
DE – Ocean Aviation Flight Academy, based at Ocean City Municipal Airport (OXB) in Berlin, Maryland, has opened a second flight training facility at Delaware Coastal Airport (GED) in Georgetown. Ocean submitted the winning proposal to Sussex County to base a flight training program in the southern Delaware region and in June signed a long-term lease agreement with the county. The facility will include new offices as well as a corporate hangar that will house up to seven training aircraft.
Delaware Coastal serves a mix of corporate and local aircraft, and the new flight school will bring more traffic to the airport, which has plans to extend the primary runway and add more hangars. Airport manager Bob Bryant is happy about the newest tenant, as attracting a top-tier flight training program has been one of the priorities for growing the airport. Ocean Aviation is a complete pilot and flight training academy established in 2007 and is a Cessna Pilot Center as well as an FAA-approved flight academy. In 2019 they won AOPA’s Top Flight School Award and this year was recognized as a Top Hawk Cessna Pilot Center.
