Modern Aviation Acquires Last Two Sheltair FBOs in New York
NY – New York City-based Modern Aviation has completed the transactions to acquire the two remaining Sheltair Aviation FBOs in New York, at Republic Airport (FRG) in Farmingdale and at Francis S. Gabreski Airport (FOK) in Westhampton Beach, as the final parts of a larger deal that was first announced in October 2021. That deal also included the former Sheltair facilities at John F. Kennedy International (JFK), LaGuardia (LGA), and Long Island MacArthur (ISP) airports, which Modern had assumed control of earlier this year. With all the necessary government approvals secured, Modern has now taken over operations at FRG and FOK. An important element of the deal was that Modern retained all the local Sheltair staff members, who have now joined Modern to provide a seamless transition and continue the reputation of outstanding professionalism and excellent service, according to Lisa Holland, President of Sheltair.
With the finalization of the acquisitions, Modern now operates 12 FBOs in its U.S. network. Modern Aviation is backed by Tiger Infrastructure Partners, a growth-oriented infrastructure private equity fund focused on pursuing additional FBO operations and development opportunities in North America and the Caribbean. Sheltair Aviation, the nation’s largest privately-owned aviation network, has now divested itself of all FBO operations in the Northeastern U.S. The Florida-based company will focus its expansion efforts within that state as well as in Georgia and Colorado where it also has operations.
