NEVADA AIRPORT AQUIRED BY OPPORTUNITY ZONE

Tiger Field Airport in Lyon County, Nevada has been acquired by an opportunity zone fund called GRASS from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. GRASS (Growth Resources, Assets, Safety, and Stability) focuses on the application of aviation technology and compliance and has officially renamed the airport SAMSARG Field. SAMSARG refers to a unit of GRASS responsible for securing hangar facilities that comply with transport and cargo aircraft housing specifications including security system installation.

The acquisition of Tiger Field serves as an increase to investments made by GRASS in aircraft hangar development and technology. GRASS intends to improve the existing airport through the creation of modernized hangars and the implementation of a drone center. According to GRASS, their SAMSARG unit is permitted to install defense software on cargo aircraft and possesses the capability to enhance hangars in accordance with technological mandates. GRASS selected the Lyon County location due to the fund’s intention to operate in opportunity zones allowing for tax deferrals.
