New Airliner Simulator Enhances Training at Southeastern Oklahoma Flight School
OK – The Aviation Sciences Institute at Southeastern Oklahoma State University recently took delivery of a simulator that will be used in its newly expanded curriculum that now includes airliner training. A team from Newmarket, Ontario, Canada-based Flightdeck Solutions (FDS) installed and set up the FDS-B737MAX-FTD device last month in preparation for the school’s incoming class of students intent on airline training. The Boeing 737 MAX is one of the most numerous and popular aircraft in the commercial fleet. The new Fixed Base Procedures Trainer will greatly enhance the ASI’s nationally recognized and Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI) accredited program. The new program will teach students airline-centric advanced systems operations, flight management system programming, advanced aerodynamics, and crew resource management, or how to function as a coordinated crew in a complex airliner environment.
The simulator offers a very realistic cockpit with a high fidelity 2200 wrap-around display, excellent control screen realism, and an intuitive high-level instructor console. The machine can create extremely realistic environments for any airport in North America as well as any kind of equipment malfunction, emergency procedure, or weather condition. The ASI has a long history of academic and professional aviation training dating back to 1966.
