PDX Welcomes New Bar Honoring History’s Aviatrices

OR- A women-in-aviation-themed bar has opened at Portland International Airport (PDX). The bar is named Juliett and was brought to the airport by the Lightning Bar Collective in collaboration with ChefsTable. The bar celebrates women aviators and features portraits and special beers honoring the accomplishments of women in aviation. The tap list at Juliett includes The Women Airforce Service Pilots West Coast IPA, The 99s Golden Rye, the Hazel Hazy IPA, Night Witch Coffee Milk Stout, The Amelia Pilsner, and The Aviatrice Czech Dark Ale.

Portraits of Berta Moraleda, Bessie Coleman, Micky Axton, and Hazel Ying Lee are displayed in the bar alongside descriptions of each aviator’s accomplishments in aviation. The bar’s cocktail menu has been designed to support themes of aviation and travel with nods to classics from the 1940s and 50s. Juliett is now open at PDX at the end of Concourse E and seats 90 people.
