Second FBO Coming to Panama City Airport

FL – Southern Sky Aviation, based in Birmingham, Alabama, has entered into a 30-year lease agreement with the Panama City-Bay County Airport and Industrial District to build and operate an FBO at Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) in Panama City. The lease includes options for two 10-year extensions. Over the course of the development project the company will invest more than $25 million into construction of the facility that will include more than 10 acres of new ramp area, 73,000 SF of hangar space with 28′ doors, and a 9,000 SF FBO terminal. The terminal will provide a full range of passenger services with concierge, refreshments and coffee, flight catering, limited electric vehicle charging stations, and rental cars. Pilots and crew will enjoy superior line and ground services including GPU/lav/water, crew cars, showers, and flight planning and snooze rooms. Offices and an executive conference room will be available for both tenant leases and visitors.

Southern Sky FBO President Darryl Brewer noted the company initiated the project more than two years ago and is very passionate about serving the aviation community. Southern Sky President Donald Howell said the Northwest Florida region has experienced significant growth in recent years and the company is proud to participate in the continued economic development of the area and growth of the airport. The company also operates another FBO at Trent Lott International Airport (PQL) in Pascagoula, Mississippi. In addition to FBO operations, Southern Sky Aviation offers aircraft management, maintenance, charter, and sales, and has its headquarters in a private terminal at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM).
