SHENANDOAH VALLEY REGIONAL AIRPORT BENEFITS FROM GO VIRGINIA GRANT
A recent grant allocated through Growth and Opportunity for Virginia (GO Virginia) has awarded $100,000 toward infrastructure supporting the Shenandoah Valley Aviation Technology Park at the Shenandoah Regional Airport. The grant is one of fourteen projects outlined in Go Virginia’s $7.7 million list of grants designed to propel economic recovery within Virginia communities. The funds will be utilized to complete water and sewer design along with the engineering needed to build out the airport’s technology park area.
The Shenandoah Airport previously received funding from the FAA for taxiway and hangar apron projects, but the new grant money will help to supplement those projects with utility and infrastructure upgrades. Seven hangar sites have been established at the airport and the utility improvements will help to determine if utilities need to be moved in order to proceed with hangar construction. The airport hopes to build two 14,000-square-foot hangars with construction expected to begin in early spring of next year.
