KSNA REPORT DETAILS BOOST IN GENERAL AVIATION ACTIVITY

The John Wayne Airport (KSNA) in Orange County, California posted an October report detailing statistics for traffic at the airport in August indicating a 211.1% increase compared to the same period last year. KSNA experienced a passenger traffic count of 942,541 in August 2019, 266,986 in August 2020, and 831,522 this year. Total aircraft operations also increased in August 2021 with 29,814 operations compared to 22,963 operations in August of last year.

General aviation contributed to 73.7% of total aircraft operations in August 2021 which marked an increase of 18.5% from August 2020. General aviation activity this year was also up 2.1% from 2019 when it accounted for 71.9% of total aircraft operations. Commercial operations rose by 89.6% this year in August compared to August 2020 but decreased by 5.4% compared to August 2019. The top-ranking airlines in August 2021 by passenger count at KSNA included Southwest Airlines with 355,670 passengers, American Airlines with 138,241 passengers, and Alaska Airlines with 105,812 passengers.
