The Texas Senate declared Grapevine the Christmas Capital of Texas®in 2009, and every year for 40 days, Grapevine, TX, embodies the holiday spirit with more than 1,400 Christmas-themed events. A few of those events include the Carol of Lights, the Peace Plaza Ice Rink, and the Grapevine Christmas Market.
Carol of Lights
The Carol of Lights is sponsored by Texas Health. It’s a free walking tour in downtown Grapevine that visitors can take from 4 PM to 8:30 PM on November 25th. Participants can enjoy wonderful holiday displays and lights. There will be interactive displays and activities for children, and patrons can enjoy an artisan market, food vendors, and live, family-friendly entertainment.
Parade of Lights
Holidaygoers can enjoy a spectacular Christmas lights display on December 5th during the Parade of Lights. The parade of Lights starts at 7 PM, and there is no cost. It features more than 100 floats filled with eye-catching Christmas displays and lights. This year, guests can enjoy the theme of Toys, Trains and Candy Canes, as well as looking for Santa Claus, who is rumored to be in the last float.
Peace Plaza Ice Rink
The Peace Plaza Ice Rink is sponsored by the Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Grapevine. It’s one of the most beloved and enjoyed Christmas attractions in the town. The rink is located in Peace Plaza and features a 60-foot Christmas tree. Tickets are just $20 a piece and allow patrons to skate for an hour. This event runs from November 22 to January 7, 2025.
Christmas at the Palace Theatre
Amazon sponsors this year’s Christmas at the Palace Theatre. The Palace Theatre in downtown Grapevine will host live performances and concerts, as well as classic movies and cartoons. The calendar of spectacular Christmas presentations includes the Nutcracker by the North Central Ballet on November 24, Elf and Home Alone on November 30, Classic Cartoons and Crafts throughout December, and the Texas Tenors on December 10th, as well as many other films and live performances.
Grapevine Christmas Market
The Grapevine Christmas Market first opens on November 30. Then, it’s open on December 1st as well as December 7 through December 23 from 1 PM until 9 PM. The Christmas Market features local artisans and gift-makers as well as local businesses. Downtown artisans and shops include Vetro Glassblowing Studio and Gallery, Bermuda Gold and Silver jewelry store, and Giddens Gallery of Fine Art. Great Wolf Lodge hosts an annual Snowland celebration from November 25 through January 6. It’s a winter wonderland featuring dance parties, bingo, games, a scavenger hunt, and visits with Santa Claus.
