The Brebner Family Tsuniah Lake Lodge in Canada
The Tsuniah Lake Lodge in Canada is a remote sanctuary between the Tsuniah Peak, the Klokon Peak, and Huckleberry Mountain along the edge of Tsuniah Lake. The lodge was opened in 1950 by Bob Brebner, Muriel Brebner, and Art Watson. This rural vacation spot started with only a seaplane dock for floatplanes. Just imagine flying your seaplane to the lake for a fishing weekend, then flying home. That’s just what they did between 1950 and 1954 when they repurposed a hayfield and built a turf airstrip. After the airstrip was in place, the family built the lodge and ten cabins. Today, The Brebner Family Tsuniah Lake Lodge is owned and operated by the third generation of Brebners and has welcomed families and pilots who love to fly, hike, boat, bike, and view nature for over 70 years. Visitors can enjoy hydroelectric power and water, but there are no TVs or phones at the site, which is excellent for individuals, couples, and families who are looking to unplug and get back to nature.
Private Turf Landing Strip and Seaplane Dock
The Tsuniah Lake Lodge Airport (CAF4) is located on the lodge property and contains both a seaplane dock and a turf airstrip. It’s a 4,000-foot turf runway that’s 100 feet wide and in good condition. Its latitude is 51°32’N (51.533), and its longitude is 124°10’W (-124.167). It’s recommended that you contact the lodge to book your stay and retrieve the frequencies and flight procedures for landing at the private airstrip or seaplane dock on Tsuniah Lake.
