Traffic Increases at AUS Prompts Job Growth
TX – The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) will add 80 new positions to help support increased traffic at the airport. The Austin City Council recently approved a budget amendment to allow for the job postings as an increase in domestic and international flights to AUS prompted the need for additional personnel. An additional $2.2 million will now be utilized by the airport operating fund to support the newly created jobs.
The Austin airport expects to serve an increased passenger seat capacity of 40 percent more passengers this summer compared to travel levels in 2019. New positions include security, maintenance, custodial, guest services, technical, managerial and supervisory roles. Twelve positions are also needed to fill support for the Airport Expansion and Development Program including a project management position, project assistant position, project coordinator position, and program manager positions. The added staffing will also help shift temporary positions currently held at the airport to full-time positions.
