TUCSON COMPANY TO REACH STRATOSPHERIC HEIGHTS WITH BALLOON TOURISM

World View Enterprises has begun accepting reservations for commercial stratospheric balloon flights. The company is headquartered in Tucson, Arizona with a launch facility south of the Tucson International Airport. Flights are expected to begin by 2024 and will elevate passengers up to 100,000 feet on a six to 12-hour trip. The experience is currently priced at $50,000 and requires a $500 deposit.

Passengers of the balloon flights will board via a pressurized capsule and the capsule will later land near the initial launch site by way of a controlled parachute landing. World View applied for commercial flight certification from the FAA earlier this year and intends to secure additional international certifications to operate passenger flights globally. The company is targeting flight locations including sites in Kenya, Mongolia, Australia, Egypt, Norway, Peru, and the United States. World View was founded in 2013 and expects to reach 100 employees at the company’s Tucson location by the end of the year.
