WASHINGTON STATE AIRPORTS TO RECEIVE $71 MILLION OF INFRASTRUCTURE FUNDING

Washington state airports are set to receive $71 million in infrastructure funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The FAA Airport Improvement Program (AIP) will distribute the funding on a formula basis. Funding can be utilized to improve airport safety, capacity, security, and environmental efforts.

According to the Port of Seattle, the $45 million of funding allocated to the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) will help the airport to reduce wait times, enhance the customer experience, meet continued growth expectations, and support the goal of becoming the greenest port in North America. Other major Washington state airports receiving funding include Spokane International Airport (GSG) with $6.4 million of funding and Tri-Cities Airport (PSC) with $3.3 million. The remaining funding is allocated amongst additional airports throughout the state. Bipartisan Infrastructure Law allows funding to be used for terminal improvements and airfield upgrades for runway and taxiways, airfield lighting, and safety projects.
