WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT GRANT AWARDED TO TEAMSTERS AIRLINE DIVISION AND TAMC
The FAA has awarded the Teamsters Airline Division in partnership with the Aviation Mechanics Coalition (TAMC) with an Aviation Workforce Development Aviation Maintenance Technical Workers Grant. The grant is worth $450,000 and will be used to fund the Aviation Basics Program (AVB). The program is an eight-week course for individuals pursuing an aviation maintenance or manufacturing career.
TAMC and Northrop Rice U.S.A. have partnered to provide the AVB program. TAMC was created in 2007 to help increase the talent pool for aviation maintenance technicians through the creation of educational programs and industry improvements. The FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 granted the FAA with the authority to establish the Aviation Workforce Development Grant Program. The program is approved to operate through the end of the fiscal year 2023. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters represents 1.4 million members with more than 80,000 members belonging to the airline division.
